PS1-style horror game at the park

The Man in the ParkĀ is a freeĀ adventureĀ game made by indie developer Elliott Dahle. It is aĀ first-personĀ horrorĀ title created in the styling of PS1 games of old featuringĀ low-poly graphics, and a dark and atmospheric presentation. It narrates a brief encounter with a mysterious man at a park.

Just likeĀ The Garden PathĀ andĀ Lumencraft, The Man in the Park is a game that was made using theĀ Godot Game EngineĀ and PS1-style shaders. It is essentially aĀ developmental experimentĀ to showcase what kind of game could be created using them in the future.

One night at a park

The Man in the Park begins with you walking through the park late at night as you're on your way home. The area is dimly-lit with street lights every few meters, and there is no one else around as you pass by. There is a jungle gym nearby that stands out with its vibrant colors. You can even enter the slide and play about it if you want.

You pass by multiple benches along the stone walkway when suddenly you notice an old man sitting on one of them. The mysterious figure is dressed in a brown suit with a green fedora for a hat. You can approach him and strike up a conversation with him to see what he has to say. Alternatively, you can ignore him altogether and continue on your way.

Depending on your actions, The Man in the Park offers three endings for you to experience. It's up to you to decide whether you want to play, sate your curiosity, or just go straight home. Regardless, each one will offer up a different outcome. It's just as well since depending on how you play, the gameplay is very short and lasts no more than a few minutes every playthrough.

Stranger danger

If you like horror games and classic PS1 titles, The Man in the Park combines both in a weird and interesting package that you could experience if you have a few minutes to spare. The graphics are spot on, it has the characteristic dark and atmospheric vibe to it, and you three end up unlocking through multiple playthroughs. Go give it a try.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?
